Living in Berkeley's "Left Bank" Neighborhood
Wondering about this Berkeley neighborhood?
The new hub of the neighborhood is Caffe Trieste, of North Beach fame, now at the corner of San Pablo and Dwight.
Everyone has to eat. You'll love the rich array of cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood-why there's Café Tululah or Bacheeso's or The Westside Bakery Cafe or The Homemade Cafe for breakfast and lunch, Vanni's for an upscale dinner, Breads of India, Priya Indian, and even the Scharfenberger Chocolate Factory nearby. A fabulous variety of wonderful, one-of-a-kind and ethnic places to eat. Feel like cooking? Try Andronico's Market a few blocks north on University Avenue. Everyone goes to Country Cheese on San Pablo for wonderful cheeses and an excellent selection of bulk items. And Mi Terra Foods for Mexican staples.
You'll find all the necessities in this neighborhood including a post office, several banks, Ace Hardware, video stores, Lucky Dog pet store, and the West Branch of the Berkeley Library. It's convenient to transportation and commuter lines including express buses to San Francisco (the G and H have stops nearby), all the Berkeley BART stations, and the Berkeley Amtrak stop. For outdoor recreation, there's the Strawberry Creek Park (with kid's playground, yoga studios and Bread Works Bakery), the Lawn Bowling Park on Acton, and another tot playground on Acton.
Come home to this wonderful Berkeley neighborhood where the pulse is urban, the living is easy, and your money buys more house!!!
